Automated Business Discovery
To help MPListing be useful from day one rather than an empty directory, we discover Malaysian business information from permitted public sources -- primarily official business websites and permitted open datasets. This page explains how that works and how business owners stay in control.
What MPListingBot Does
- Identifies itself with the user agent
MPListingBot-- it never impersonates a browser, Googlebot, or another crawler. - Respects each site's
robots.txtand rate limits. If a source disallows automated access, we mark it disabled and do not crawl it. - Never bypasses CAPTCHAs, logins, paywalls, or other access controls.
- Collects only factual business details -- name, category, address, contact details, opening hours, and similar -- never third-party reviews, ratings, photographs, or copyrighted descriptions.
- Records where every fact came from, so we know why a listing says what it says.
Before a Listing Goes Live
Discovered information is staged and checked for duplicates against existing listings before anything is published. Low-confidence or ambiguous discoveries are held for manual review rather than published automatically.
Unclaimed Listings
A business created this way is clearly marked "Unclaimed" and is never presented as verified or endorsed. Business owners can claim their listing at any time, free of charge, to take control of it.
Your Options as a Business Owner
- Claim it -- take ownership and manage your information directly.
- Suggest an edit -- correct a specific detail without claiming.
- Request removal -- see our Business Removal Policy. Removal is free and, once approved, we retain a record that prevents the listing from being automatically re-created by future crawling.
