Business Removal Policy
This policy explains how to have a business listing removed from MPListing, and what happens afterward.
Who Can Request Removal
Anyone can submit a removal request via the "Request Removal" link on a business profile -- typically the business owner, a manager, or a legal representative. We may ask you to verify your relationship to the business before approving certain requests.
Accepted Reasons
- You are the business owner and want the listing taken down.
- The business has permanently closed.
- The listing is incorrect and refers to the wrong business.
- The listing is a duplicate of another listing already on MPListing.
- Privacy concerns.
- A legal request.
Review Process
Every removal request is reviewed by our team -- nothing is removed automatically. We may follow up for more information or verification before deciding. Supporting documents you upload are kept private and are never published.
What Happens After Approval
- The listing is taken down from the public site immediately.
- The page returns a "Gone" response rather than redirecting elsewhere, and is removed from search results, category/location listings, and our sitemap.
- We retain a fingerprint of the removed business's identifying details so it is not silently re-added the next time our automated discovery finds the same source -- see our Automated Business Discovery page.
- We do not necessarily delete all internal records immediately, in case the decision needs to be reviewed or reversed (for example, if a removal was later found to be fraudulent).
Cost
Requesting removal is always free and never requires a paid plan.
Permanently Closed vs. Removed
A business that has simply closed down may instead be marked "Permanently Closed" rather than fully removed, so customers searching for it still get accurate information. Full removal is used for the reasons listed above.
